Burkina Faso's Ministry of Digital Transformation, in partnership with Cybastion, launched La Maison du Citoyen (MDC), an ambitious project aimed at modernizing public services by transforming post offices into digital service centers, making government services more accessible and efficient for the country's citizens and businesses.
The new digital services hub project, as part of Cybastion's Cybersecurity and Intelligence Support Program (PACYR-BF), was presented during a two-day strategic planning workshop on March 6, at the headquarters of the Société Nationale des Postes du Burkina (SONAPOST).
The newly launched project will be rolled out to all post offices nationwide in 2025. Leveraging digital solutions, the project will offer digital services and tools to streamline bureaucratic processes, improve accessibility to government services and promote greater transparency.
Ibrahim Saba, Director General of the Burkina Faso Post Office;Haoua Ouattara Dama, PACDIGITAL Coordinator, a local implementer; AndKarim Alio, MDC Project Manager at Cybastion, led the strategic planning workshop, during which project objectives and goals were defined and refined.
Digital service hubs are expected to make government processes more efficient, reducing waiting times for public services and reducing administrative bottlenecks. The project will also stimulate economic growth by supporting entrepreneurship and strengthening digital adoption across Burkina Faso.
The Ministry of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications (MTDPCE) has long pursued an ambitious digital transformation strategy, aiming to expand e-government services in order to simplify administrative procedures for citizens and make Burkina Faso a leader in digital innovation. Yet the digital divide and lack of localized infrastructure have made it difficult to ensure that citizens can fully benefit from technological advancements, particularly in rural communities.
The strategic planning workshop enabled stakeholders to refine project implementation strategies for project rollout. Post offices in Burkina Faso will soon have a single digital platform and digital tools that will be widely accessible and user-friendly for citizens and businesses.
With secure and scalable technology, the MDC project is part of Cybastion's broader partnership with Burkina Faso to drive digital transformation, modernize government operations and strengthen the country's digital infrastructure.
